handles and knobs

Hooray!!! We've finally finished putting the handles and knobs on the kitchen cupboard and drawers! BOO YAH!!!!

It looks soooo fabulous!

Probably my favourite drawer in the kitchen
BTW - we do have 'real' coffee - that's in the pantry next to our coffee maker ;)

We bought the handles from Arcus Design on ebay. We had originally bought handles from Ikea, but decided that we'd prefer a brushed finish rather than the shiny finish so we returned them. The Ikea ones also had a funny back which would have been tricky to attach to the drawers.  Really happy with how these have turned out!

Funny handle backs on the cup pulls that we first purchased from IKEA

Now to get some pendant lights. Just gotta decide which ones we want... the glass ones are about half the price but I really love the hamptons style light - it will also be easier to keep clean. Temple and Webster have the hamptons one on special right now, so we need to decide asap. Time for some sweet talking I think ;-)

This is a boring title because I can't think of an interesting one...

We got to have a good look inside the house today. Loving our kitchen cupboards!

They've put up the lining boards on the gable and the infill over the garage.

And the fence has gone.

Neighbours two doors up have moved in (well we think they have b/c we can see a pink couch in their lounge room) but their rendering hasn't been done on their columns out the front yet... Guess that'll happen soon.

Back fence done. Side fence yet to be finished.
Loving our kitchen!

Cabinets and Painting

Was in Riddell today so did a drive by. There was a car at the house so I decided I'd pop in and say "Hi" and take a look at the cabinets up close. There were two painters there and they'd just started painting the trim (I don't think they were too keen on me going in, but I just said I wanted some pics of the cabinets).

As the boys were at a friends' house today and I had the day to myself I went to IKEA to buy some baskets for the mudroom and the handles and knobs for our new kitchen.

We Have a Kitchen... sort of

With Melbourne experiencing a week of 40+ degrees each day, we didn't expect to see anything happening at the house. When we received an email today with the fixing invoice attached we realised the builders all were busy working this week. Way to go guys! So we had to go and check it out.

Hubby could hear me squealing from the other side of the house when I saw the kitchen cupboards through the dirty windows. The photos below don't do it any justice at all. I could have stayed looking through the windows for hours. It is so beautiful. It's just as I imagined - better really because it's now a reality!

Can just see the ensuite cupboard doors

Laundry - it's gorgeous!

Lights...

Dreaming about lights. Pouring over pinterest.

Hope we can get some lovelies like these below for our kitchen:

From Schots

These ones are my absolute fav!
From Cape Cod Designs

I'm not sure what sort of light fitting I want to put over our dining table...

More lighting love on my pinterest board

Final decisions

I went into Hopetoun on the weekend. The sample of the Shaker style kitchen door was Polar White, so we were able to see what that looked like with the bench. It looks great with the Osprey. We'll tone down our glass splashback to Dulux Limed White Half so there's less contrast between it and the cupboards.

I love this kitchen (below) and it has the cool white cupboards with the warm beige walls and darker floors. Walls in this picture are darker than what we are having - but we could always paint the kitchen walls a darker colour to get this effect - maybe even the same colour as our backsplash - Limed White Half.

So now the amended Colour Selections for the Kitchen are:

Kitchen Cupboard Doors: Laminex Polar White
Bench: Caesar Stone Osprey
Glass Splashback: Starfire Dulux Limed White Half
Walls: Lushious White
Trim and Doors: First Snow

Now I really have to stop thinking!  It gets me in trouble...

Handles, Knobs and Pulls

One thing I do know I want is the handles for laundry and kitchen... I'll be buying the kitchen and bathroom handles on ebay from the US - even with the high cost of postage, they'll be cheaper than the upgrade handles that our builder offer. The laundry ones will probably come from Hong Kong with free postage - gotta love ebay!

Second guessing...

I'm so indecisive about some things.

After realising that most of the laundries I've pinned on my laundry pinterest board are white I changed our laundry cabinet to polar white (prob more to do with the fact that there would be no extra cost to have the shaker styled doors I coveted).

Then I got to thinking again (probably not a good idea) about how the kitchens I pin on my kitchen pinterest board are mainly white shaker kitchens. ARGHHHHH! Time to go back to the drawing board. Do I want parchment our original choice (which is a creamy white) or a polar white (white white) kitchen? GAHHH!!!!  I just can't decide. I tell myself to go with what we first chose, but I keep going back to it...

So there's only one thing to do - go back to Hopetoun tomorrow and talk to someone there about my kitchen colour choices.
