Write them on the doorposts

"And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (NLT)

I saw this idea on August Fields' blog a few years ago and just knew that if we ever built a house this was something that we would do.

So yesterday we wrote some of our favourite Bible verses on the framing timber of our house.

For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

Zephaniah 3:17

This is my favourite verse at the moment. It is amazing that God takes delight in each one of us and that  He even sings songs (joyful songs) about each one of us.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

Psalm 139:14

On Saturday we went up to the house and Mark put some wiring in for speakers. Our site supervisor asked us if we wanted to do this and said the house wouldn't be locked up until Monday so we could have access to do that over the weekend. As we were leaving the insulation guys showed up to install the insulation. Tomorrow the plaster will be delivered.

    1. I'm sure a sharpie (permanent marker) would work - or you could print them out and glue them on ;-) I wish I had thought of it earlier b/c we only did a few and I would have liked to have done more - esp in the boys' bedrooms.
