One Year

Just over one year ago we bought some land.

One year later it has the beginnings of a house on it.

Exciting times!

Trusses

Trusses were delivered today as well as the front door frame. Mark enjoyed getting to check out the frame. The boys were excited to show him their bedrooms.

Our big backyard!

Hey Dad, we can build this and we can build that and Dad, we can build another thing.....
Mark is going to have to be super creative with this timber if he is going to "help" Nath build a "Tron Light Cycle" - Good luck with that Daddy!

We've been framed

It's so exciting. After the bank give us another hiccup on Monday (they're useless - but I won't go into that right now) I didn't expect to see anything happening until the issue with the bank was sorted.

We were in Riddell anyway so the boys and I did the weekly drive by after school on our way to Violin and I was so excited to find that the frame has been started.  I squealed as soon as I saw it, the boys thought I must have run over something in the car when they heard me - hahaha!

Was tempted to get fish and chips and have a picnic tea there tonight. Might do that tomorrow night - if it's not raining that is!

A 'significant event'

Half the fun is in the planning - be it a house or a party.

I am turning a significant age this month and as much as I am in denial about it, and hate the idea of having a party, I am in the middle of planning something to celebrate this significant event.

I didn't want a party, and originally thought we'd just go out for dinner with our family and a few close friends, but we came up with a better idea.

We are going to Phillip Island for the weekend (we've hired a lovely holiday house) and our family and friends will come down for the day and we'll have a bbq lunch followed by an afternoon at the beach - hopefully the weather will be good to us. We are going to hire some beginner surf boards from the surf shop just up from the beach. Everyone can hire wetsuits if they wish and we'll have an afternoon of swimming and surfing.

A few months ago we took our boys to a beach at Phillip Island which is perfect for beginner surfers. Mark's cousin lives there and he taught the boys how to surf so we thought this would be a fun and memorable way to celebrate the 'significant age' I am turning. I'm looking forward to having a go surfing myself - last time I was behind the camera so I could get some fabulous pictures of the boys surfing for the first time.

So at the moment I am in the middle of planning this and I am having a lot of fun. I really hope it all turns out as nice as I envisage. Will post pics after the 'significant event'
